Volunteer

Described as the ‘Warm Heart Of Africa’, Malawi is a real gem of this diverse continent and has so much to offer; an abundance of wildlife, diverse culture, kind-hearted people, exciting adventure, stunning scenery, and the third largest lake in Africa!

The Program

We are delighted to be able to offer exciting opportunities for volunteers, internships and researchers.

Wildlife Action Group has been running a successful volunteer programme from the very beginning, and we have been very lucky to have had fantastic volunteers over the years to assist us, who keep on coming back!

Our volunteer programme is about genuine conservation, exposing you to a busy working project focused on managing two forest reserves.

It is about back to basics living in the true wilderness of our eco bush camp, living in traditional huts, using bush toilets and showers, and cooking over an open fire!

The tasks you may be involved in during your stay are included in the following list, although these can change depending on the demands of the project at the time of your visit.

If you have a specific skill or specialised experience, then please let us know because we would love to put this to good use during your stay.

  • Wildlife and ecology research

  • GIS data mapping

  • Setting wildlife camera traps

  • Solar powered electric fence

  • maintenance

  • Community engagement

  • Education in schools

  • Removing snares from forest

  • Building and maintenance of the camp

  • Office administration

  • Assisting with the day-to-day

  • Project Management

  • Car maintenance

If you love nature, the great outdoors and hard work then this is the place for you!

Our past volunteers have had a common ambition; to develop a practical knowledge of habitats and wildlife, and work hard to have a lasting positive impact on the environment.

Volunteers with a good work ethic, who are positive, flexible and self motivated, will fit in very well and leave with a great sense of achievement.
